Not Loyal
Layla is, surprisingly, not very loyal to well... anyone. (Including the queen.) She does not believe in giving her loyalty to someone simply because of status or because it's what society believes to be right. She requires others to earn her loyalty, and it is known that it is very hard to do so.
Paranoid
She is deathly afraid of others, or more specifically, becoming close to another. She fears betrayal and loss of power, and will often try to avoid situations that require her to become 'friends' with someone else.
Amazing Actor
Layla is a great actor, easily hiding her emotions and true beliefs under a facade of a grumpy mutt. She rarely ever allows her true identity to be seen. Although she is able to act very well, she is prone to accidentally giving her thoughts away under stressful circumstances.
Huge Bitch
She is simply put, a huge bitch. (At least, most of the time.) Layla has no problem with outright insulting someone, or being rude in public, but sometimes will refrain from doing so to keep her reputation up. When she's not being a bitch, she can be fairly nice and sweet, but that is questionable.
Ulterior Motives
Layla doesn't often approach others for talk or favors, but when she does, she also keeps ulterior motives in mind. Whether it is for payback, blackmail, or guilt trip, she will almost never approach someone freely unless she has something up her sleeve.
Talkative
Contradicting her other traits, she is surprisingly talkative. The only problem is actually getting her to take up a conversation in the first place, afterwards she could talk all day and night about whatever subject she chooses. She does expect that her conversation partner keeps up with her, however.
Volatile
Layla is able to be calm and quiet one moment to a raging bitch in a matter of a few seconds. This is usually triggered more by words rather than actions, and she tens to be a bit more sensitive to what others say.
Feminine
Layla is surprisingly a lot more feminine than she seems. She enjoys sewing and crafts, has a deep soft spot for children, and likes to do girly things when no one's watching. She also loves collecting gems, and has a hidden stash stored somewhere in her living area.
Dangerous
She is, after all, a War Lord for a reason. With years of training, Layla has become one of the most vicious fighters, and does not often show mercy. She also always carries a weapon with her, usually concealed (in her shirt, strapped to the inside of her dress...) and the weapon is often a knife of some kind.
History:
Born to two loyal guards of the queen, young Layla grew up with constant teachings and lectures about how important it was to be loyal to her highness. The little Anubis never quite knew why, but as the years grew, she found herself questioning this kind of thinking. Why was it so important to be loyal to the queen? Why did she have to be so willing to throw away her life for the sake of a single human woman? These questions easily made her an outcast in society.
In an attempt to try and make the female more loyal to the queen, her parents immediately enrolled her in small class sessions for young Anubi who wished to become a guard of the queen, learning how to block weapons and take a hit for another. This did not affect Layla's thinking at all, to her parent's dismay, and only made her question society's beliefs even more. One day, when she came home, she came up to her parents and asked them who they would save if both were in grave danger, her or the queen. She could see the hesitation in both adult's eyes before they laughed and told her they would definitely save her.
As Layla continued to grow stronger, one day the opposing force attacked Kharenia with their army, the little Anubis was told to stay in her room until it was all over. Refusing to do so, she leaped from her window and onto the city streets, where she came face to face with a Rahm soldier. In an instant, there was a piercing pain on her left arm, causing her to cry out for her parents. Out of the corner of her eye she could see the frozen form of both adults, but then saw them turn and run the opposite direction, away from the wounded child as the soldier then proceeded to stab her in the right eye, before carelessly tossing her body into a corner.
When she came to, the child found herself in an infirmary being treated for her wounds. Her right eye had been completely removed, the doctors unable to do anymore, and the deep gash on her left arm soon became a scar. As soon as she was deemed 'healthy' enough to walk around, she immediately went to search for her parents, only to be given the unfortunate news that they had both perished in a battle. Most children would cry over the matter, but Layla instead was filled with rage and hatred. She couldn't believe that her very own parents would much rather protect the queen rather than their own child.
Angered by these results, she soon ended up joining the army to become stronger and much more independent, learning how to fight and kill. Layla spent years in military training, with one clear goal in her mind, to become a War Lord. She believed that if she became one, she would be able to change things, able to somehow end the war and change the belief of society. However, as she finally reached the rank, she found herself throwing away these dreams and goals as 'childish and impossible'.
